I’m thrilled to announce the launch of Kashmir Writes, a new platform dedicated to providing a space for writers in the valley to express their opinions, viewpoints and ideas. Unlike a traditional newspaper, Kashmir Writes focuses exclusively on fostering critical thinking and thoughtful discourse, offering budding writers an opportunity to share their insights on a wide range of issues. As the first of its kind in Kashmir, Kashmir Writes is designed to bring together diverse voices from across the region, creating a space where opinions can flourish for the benefit of society. Functioning as an opinion page—regularly available online and in print weekly—this platform aims to nurture the creativity of writers and scholars who contribute to shaping public discourse. We believe writers are the foundation of norms, and through Kashmir Writes, we are committed to channelling their ideas in a way that promotes meaningful dialogue and intellectual engagement. Every submission is valuedand we encourage writers of all experience levels to contribute their perspectives. In this inaugural issue, we extend our sincere thanks to the contributors who have shared their thoughts on a variety of topics. Kashmir Writes is now liveand we invite you to share your feedback and suggestions to help make it even more vibrant and impactful. We also welcome contributions that focus on Jammu and Kashmir, with an emphasis on thought-provoking and insightful content.
