Living in Kashmir, we’ve seen many changes over the years, and since Narendra Modi’s government came to power, there have been some significant developments that have impacted our lives in various ways. While the political landscape has certainly shifted, there’s no denying that change, when managed well, brings progress. For us here in Kashmir, this has been a time of transformation and, for many, a renewed sense of hope for the future.One of the most defining moments in recent history was the decision in 2019 to modify the constitutional framework that had existed for decades. The removal of Article 370 was a bold move that sparked a lot of conversation, not just within our community but across the entire country. For some, it was seen as a step toward greater integration, while for others, it signaled a fresh beginning with new opportunities. Whatever one’s perspective, there’s a consensus that it has opened the door to significant changes.
Since that time, the government has been focused on bringing about major improvements to the infrastructure and economy of Kashmir. The changes may not have been instant, but there’s been a clear shift toward modernization. The region has seen a focus on better roads, improved connectivity, and modern facilities, which are already making a difference in our daily lives. New roads, upgraded airports, and expanding business opportunities are a sign of the times.For example, the focus on improving infrastructure has not only made travel easier within Kashmir but has also strengthened our connectivity with the rest of the country. The new highways and bridges are reducing travel time, while the construction of new airports and expansion of existing ones is making it easier for people to come and go. This kind of connectivity is essential, especially for those of us in tourism and local businesses, as it brings in more visitors and opens up new markets.Tourism, which is such an integral part of our economy, has also seen attention from the government. As the infrastructure improves, more tourists are visiting Kashmir. People come to enjoy the natural beauty, the vibrant culture, and the warm hospitality that we’re known for.
With better facilities and security, visitors now feel more comfortable exploring our stunning landscapes. We’re seeing a steady increase in the number of tourists, which is good news for the local businesses that depend on them. Hotels, restaurants, and markets are buzzing again, and that’s something we can all be thankful for.Another area that has been receiving attention is the economic growth and job creation. The central government has taken steps to attract investment and foster entrepreneurship. New industries are slowly being introduced, and this is creating fresh opportunities for the youth here. There’s a growing focus on skill development and education, and many young people are finding ways to tap into new careers and markets. Whether it’s through setting up new businesses, expanding agriculture, or getting involved in emerging sectors like technology and digital media, there is a sense of optimism for what the future holds.
The government’s push for development has also led to improvements in health and education. New hospitals and medical facilities are being set up, which means better access to healthcare for everyone. The focus on education is ensuring that our children have the skills they need to compete on a national level. Whether it’s better schools, vocational training centers, or access to higher education, there’s a clear effort to ensure that the next generation of Kashmiris is prepared for success.For us, living through these changes has been both exciting and encouraging. There’s a sense that things are moving forward, and while progress may take time, the foundation is being laid for a more prosperous future. The central government’s approach has focused on stability, development, and bringing together all of India, and we are beginning to see the fruits of this vision.
It’s important to note that while these changes are significant, they also come with challenges that need to be carefully managed.
